It is important to us to have a Biblical foundation to our programme. Therefore, we try to pattern what we do on Acts 2:42, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Worship, service and evangelism are also part of our work and witness.
On Sunday evenings we join in Contemporary Christian Worship with Expository Bible Preaching. The songs are contemporary in style (mainly from Songs of Fellowship) and led by a music group. We have a time of testimony and prayer requests and teaching from the Bible. The preacher is normally our own minister, John Haley - the full list of upcoming preachers can be seen on the calendar. Tea/coffee and cake are served from 5.30 pm which gives us time for informal fellowship before the service begins. We finish at about 7.15 pm. A promotional poster for the Sunday evening services can be downloaded here.
From September 2016 we plan to have a new programme on Tuesday nights. For the meantime, we continue on the third Thursday evening of each month at 7.30 pm. This event, '2B1', is an evening of relaxed worship and fellowship with a chance to sing, pray, eat and chat. We usually have a theme which runs through all the songs - the first half tends to be quieter, more meditative songs before a break for tea/coffee and cakes and a time to chat. After the break the singing usually gets louder and the beat faster as we are more relaxed and cake-fuelled. There is time for people to share things from their own lives, good or bad, and anyone is welcome to speak, pray or share - but no-one is ever put on the spot or made to feel uncomfortable.
